Greetings!
My name is Tanya Pike, I am delighted to welcome you to Tail Tracks and the wonderful world of Canicross.
Feeling most at home when outdoors and with dogs, I regularly participate in off-road events and love hiking up mountains with friends in the Lake District when I can!
I wanted to share the amazing health and safety benefits that running/trekking with your dog can bring. Being with a dog or a group is a very fun and safe way to improve your fitness – no matter what breed of dog or ability!
Canicross for me is a winning combination of beautiful trails, bonding with dogs and meeting like-minded people.
Plus being ‘active with fur and friends’ is great for everyone’s well-being.
It all began when my Mum rescued Tilly, a beautiful one-eyed cockapoo. I wanted to help with her walks due to her high energy levels by combining my training with Tilly’s. Through Canicross a whole new world opened up which I am very keen to share.
Having completed a fair few Canicross events (with more booked up) the total joy and excitement that I saw with both humans and dogs was enough for me to start my own Canicross business ‘Tail Tracks’. Also sharing the importance of having the right equipment and training to get the best out of the sport.
My own rescue dog Apollo, an older German Shepherd, also loves a bit of Canicross as it’s brilliant for reactive/nervous dogs. So, with the huge range of dog breeds, different fitness levels and many wonderful trails out there…Canicross is a win-win!
I want to be as well equipped as I can be whilst out on the trails, so decided to up my knowledge on both human and dog First Aid.
Preparation is key!
